Antique Double-Sided Still Life Painting

A wonderfully unusual antique double-sided oil painting, offering two completely different compositions on a single canvas. One side depicts a moody interior still life with pottery, books and a small framed portrait, rendered in a beautifully subdued palette of deep greens, russets and earthy neutrals.

The reverse reveals a charming garden scene, densely painted with flowers, rustic fencing and a country house beyond. The visible brushwork and atmospheric quality give this side an almost impressionistic character.
